I am a shamelessly self-proclaimed book worm and as an English major in college, I've always loved to read and write. Lately, many of you have been asking for summer book recommendations, so I wanted to put together a list of my favorite summer reads in order from most to least favorite.

Just to be clear, even my least favorites are still amazing books and I highly recommend each one of these ! Okay, let's dive in:

Sharp Objects is my latest obsession and after quickly devouring the novel, I'm currently watching the Sharp Objects television show on HBO. If you like twisted murder mysteries that are definitely disturbing but will keep you eagerly flipping each page, this one's for you.

I've read a lot of Liane Moriarty's novels and have loved each one of them. Big Little Lies is my favorite from the author and the show is amazing as well, however; read the book first before watching the television series. It tells the story of three women and issues their facing in their lives and marriages. It touches on murder and even domestic violence, but isn't as dark as many other novels and reads like a housewife's guilty pleasure.

The plot of this novel was absolutely genius. A woman accidentally opens a letter from her husband to be opened when he dies. The letter contains his deepest, darkest secret which could alter their entire lives, but I won't give anything else away! Read it and thank me later.

Picture Perfect is a really interesting novel about domestic abuse in an extremely unlikely relationship. An anthropologist marries an A list actor (think George Clooney status) only to find herself in a toxic and abusive relationship. I found the psychology of it to be fascinating- why she stays, will she leave, etc.

This is another classic novel by Moriarty that you just can't stop reading. In my opinion, it's the perfect summer read. It centers around one tumultuous evening at a barbecue that begs the question, "What if we just stayed home that night?"

Psychos: A White Girl Problems Book is the most obnoxious, hilarious book I've ever read. It's about a ridiculously rich, beautiful girl who gets into situations most people couldn't even dream of and constantly says over-the-top one liners that we're all thinking. The sequel American Babe is just as awesome.

Dark Places is another Gillian Flynn novel which is equally as disturbing and twisted. However, this one moves a lot slower than Sharp Objects and a few of you told me you gave up halfway through. I urge you to power through and keep going! It had one of the biggest "I never saw that coming" plot twist endings that I've ever seen.

The Snowman is another crime solving novel that can be slow moving and a little dry at times, but ultimately picks up halfway through and will pay off in the end. It has been also been made into a film, but the movie was disappointing.

If mystery or drama novels are not your thing, you might like this lighter autobiographical one. Sophia Amoruso, the former CEO of Nasty Gal, tells her story of success from rags to riches. It's a must read for any young woman looking for some motivation in navigating the road to a lucrative career.

If you like non-fiction novels, you may like this book about actress Lily Collins' life and lifetime struggle with an eating disorder. She discusses all different aspects of her life including her career, mental health, and relationship with her father, Phil Collins. The writing is pretty straightforward and simple so you'll likely fly through it.

I'm going to continue to update this blog post as I discover new must-read novels. If you aren't already, follow me on Instagram @insidecarolinecloset.
